About Kelsey Ansbro

Hi, I’m Kelsey.

I know firsthand how impactful yoga and Pilates can be for a healing journey. How the integration of breath, movement and body awareness not only builds strength and resources the nervous system, but gives us a lens through which to see our wholeness. I believe everyone deserves the chance to experience those benefits.

I started my journey towards adaptive movement and intuitive healing as a schoolteacher struggling with burnout. I had plenty of enthusiasm for the work, but struggled to manage my anxiety and chronic health condition. I needed a shift in perspective, not just short term treatments.

Yoga helped me see myself as whole. It put me on a path towards improved self-trust, compassion and understanding. When I trained as a yoga teacher in 2016, I took with me a passion for accessibility and inclusion that was sewn during my time in a classroom. This has underpinned all my work as a movement teacher over the past 10 years. My approach to yoga and Pilates honours each student’s experience in community by offering choice, collaboration and encouraging each person’s autonomy.

I now teach a range of classes online and in the Stewartry, Dumfries & Galloway. My base is in Kirkcudbright, with other classes in Castle Douglas and further afield.

My Approach

My approach is collaborative, intuitive and community-focused. I work directly with students navigating complex health to give them a comfortable starting point.

This then evolves throughout a session as I observe and adapt for the group in real time, offering props, functional strength and mobility exercises alongside traditional yoga or Pilates to create a modern, holistic practice.

Students are given choice and freedom to improvise, reminding them of their own innate wisdom and resilience.

Adaptive Movement

This approach is for you if:

  • You don’t know where to start

  • Getting up from the floor is challenging

  • Managing complex health issues makes exercise challenging

  • You’ve been told yoga or Pilates would be good for you, but wonder if you can manage

  • Stress management is a top priority

  • You want to get stronger, more resilient and flexible

Inclusive Community

As the adaptive approach is centred from the start — no matter the intensity level — taking an option feels less like standing out and more like showing up as yourself in a diverse and supportive community.

Classes are lighthearted and play centred. There is time to get quiet, rest and listen inwardly, but we have a good laugh too. Everyone practices in their own unique way, which enriches the community feel. There is space for you to participate quietly or be social. Someone is always happy to chat!
